Wall of Progression Update 14/07/2013

It has now been just over 2 weeks since I started this blog and now it is time to have a look at the Wall of Progression.
Steadily over these 2 and bit weeks my Wall of Progression has gained some pictures and I am feeling positive about the future of my artwork.

So let's see what my Wall of Progression now looks like. I have 7 images and have used 4 different mediums- 2 of which use colour.

First up we have a close-up of my three latest images which now hang proudly on my wall

Next we have a full view of the wall and all of its images. It is starting to look a bit more lively than before because it now has more pictures and some colour. I think it is important that I continue to sketch with pencil but you have to admit that adding some colour really livens things up and makes your images more interesting.

Originally I thought that the Wall of Progression would hold about 12 A4 images, now I think it will hold about 9. I didn't realise how much space it would take up when actually on the wall. I am considering moving to another wall which can hold more pictures but I am not sure yet as there is stuff on that wall that would need moving

If you have been following along with the things I have been doing so far and having a go yourself your wall should be looking more like this. If you have more pictures, great! if not then just keep going and do them when you have the time. I would like to see what you have done and see your Walls of Progression.

I am also open to other options and techniques for improving my artistic skills. Remember, you can't do a technique once and then be a master of it or never have to do it again. You need to periodically go over things you have done before and see what has changed from then and now. Expect in a couple of weeks for me to go over some things I have already done e.g. still life or the Dice Stack.

I have heard that if you can draw a face accurately then you can draw anything so expect a couple of portraits in the near future.

Update- 15/07/2013

After some rearranging on my Wall of Progression I can now fit more pictures on! There are a couple of extra pictures from my Still Life Vegetables post. But now I can easily fit on 2 more pictures which will bring the total up to my original idea of 12 pictures. It does depend on the size of the pictures you do and with some imagination you can create interesting displays involving overlapping and different angles.

Anyway here is my updated Wall of Progression...

That looks better doesn't it? My wall charts progress in chronological order (time order), starting with the earliest at the top left and continues right and then down, just like reading a book. When doing this it is a good idea to mix up the coloured and non-coloured images that were done on the same day and to vary the mediums you use so you get a nice combination and a more interesting looking wall.
