Another Comic Copy

Oddly it has been 9 days since I last did a picture and I have done another copy of an existing comic picture, that is after all the main aim of this blog (not copying pictures but doing comic book styles pictures).
This time it is from a Spider-man/Avengers comic. The picture is larger than the last one with a good section of 2 people to draw and also some background, which was virtually non-existent in the last picture.

I used the same process as last time- pencil outlining, scanning then tracing the outline and adding colour on Photoshop.

This picture turned out a bit different to last time as I had to modify it to make sure everything fit in to the picture so Spidey's a bit thinner and the girl has had some of her body removed. Also the building behind them has been shortened. In spite of all this though I think it has turned out well.

The colour picture and the pencil drawing look quite different because of tracing the outline. I may be using too large a brush as well as lines tended to want to cross and join.

Here's the original (taken from wired.com):

Now here's my penciled outline:

And now my Photoshop colour image:

There's not much to say about the pencil outline because it is what it is but you can see some noticeable colour differences in the colour image compared to the original. This is for two reasons 1) I am picking the colours myself 2) The colours I have chosen and fact that it is done on Photoshop has resulted in the colours being more vibrant than the original.

If you are wondering why I do a pencil outline first only to have to do it again on Photoshop I can explain. For me it is easier to draw on an actual piece of paper rather than a pen tablet. As I draw I move the page around and the pencil still goes in the direction I choose, it's not the same using a pen tablet. The pen tablet is static and you need to look at the computer to see where the pen is going as well unlike on a piece of paper where you see both screen (the paper) and pencil at the same time.

That wraps this post up and I was thinking that maybe I should make a logo for this blog. I'll think on some ideas and maybe do a post about it, if you have any suggestions I would like to know.
